Since the results you can obtain with different types of printer will vary substantially, here is a guide to help you decide which one of the most suitable for your needs. To begin with, you should take into account that printers vary to cost, speed, print quality, and other factors such as noise or printing method. Technology is evolving so quality that there is always a printer every application or need.

Dot matrix printers use pins to print the dots required to shape a character. They can print text and graphics; however they produce relatively low resolution output – 72 to 180 dots per inch (dpi). They are used to print multi – part forms, self – coping paper and continuous – form labels. They are slower than laser printers but much cheaper.

Inkjet printers operate by projecting small ink droplets onto paper to form the required image. Colour and hues are created by the precise mixing of cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks. Inkjets are fairly fast, quest, and not expensive as laser printer. Nevertheless, you can still expect high quality results because there are some inkjet printers on the market with a resolution of 2,400 dpi.

Laser printers produce output at great speed and with a very high solution of 1 200-2’400 dpi. They scan the image with a special link powder called toner. They are constantly being improved. In terms of speed and image quality, laser printers are preferred by experts for various reasons; for instance, they have wider range of scalable fonts than inkjets, can emulate deferent language systems, and can produce high quality graphics; however, they are still expensive home users.

Thermal transfer printers are used to produce colour images by transferring a wax – based ink onto the paper. They are popular for printing barcodes, labels and medium – resolution graphics.

Imagesetters produce very high – resolution output (up to 3540 dpi) on paper or on the actual film for making the printing plates. In addition, they are extremely fast. Imagesetters are most often used in desktop publishing (DTP). Although they produce the highest quality output, there is a one important disadvantage: they are too expensive to homes or small offices. In modern lithographic printing, images are created on a DTP computer and then output directly to the printing plates, without requiring film as an intermediate step. This technology is called computer to plate or CTP and machine used to called a platesetter.

Finally, we have plotters. Plotters used ink and fine pens held to carriage to draw vary detailed designs on paper. They are used for constraction plans, engineering drawings and other technical illustrations. A senior technology consultant with anti-virus company Sophos, said in an interview, with UK's BBC news that (he outbreak was "of a scale they had not seen for some time."Microsoft said that the malware has already infected many computers across the world, with machines in China, Brazil, Russia and India having the most number of victims. The worm is believed to be capable of cracking computers with weak passwords, but is able to infect computers through memory sticks without needing to break any password protection. It infects machines by searching for "services.exe," a core Windows file, and attaching itself to that file. After creating a DLL library file with a random name, it runs itself as a service on the machine, creates a web server and downloads files from the hacker's web site. While most malware download from a limited number of hacker websites, Conficker, according to F-Secure, generates hundreds of domain names a day, making it hard to track down the site used to download the hackers' files and shut it down.

what is OVI?

LAUNCHED last November, ovi by Nokia is the telecommunication giant's latest platform for file and media sharing.Ovi combines the computer, mobile device and online environment into an easy-to-use, consistent and complete experience. The appeal of net books is obvious: they're about half the size, and half the weight, of a typical all-purpose notebook computer. They focus on what matters to working online: a decent keyboard and a nice- screen, fast wireless Internet connectivity, and enough local storage- in the form of a solid state disk - to store the essentials. Gone are the CD/DVD, power hungry screens, and traditional hard drives. The result: a notebook that's a joy to carry. pleasant In use. and that gets vein online to check your e-mail, write documents, or surf the Internet This year will no doubt be all about saving money for many, and the tech products that w ill excite us next year will justify their place in our lives by providing an obvious return on investment They'll help us In save time, money, and lo do more with less. The Internet is quickly becoming not just a place for research and Leisure but also the platform on which all business documents can be created and, more importantly, shared.
Google Docs - with its very capable and free online wind processor, spread-sheet, and presentation program - has led the way. But Think free Office and Zoho (below) represent significant competition. Even Microsoft has announced plans to move its office suite of productivity tools to an online format. All of this is part of a movement that's being widely referred to as "cloud computing", which essentially refers in software and applications being delivered to you over the Internet. With "always on" internet connections becoming increasingly common, the case for working and storing documents online is compelling. You no longer have the concern over where your documents are stored, since they're ,AL-ways available from any computer connected to the Internet. And because you're working online, you have the ability to collaborate with others, no matter where they're located, to this point, the main obstacle that online app vendors have to overcome is reluctance among users.
Wild all of the big players in the industry moving lo online applications, expect to have your reluctance challenged in 2009.

SSDs threaten hard drives

Solid slide disks (SSDs) are faster, cooler more durable quieter, and use less power i Man traditional hard drives. So what's not to like?
capacity and cost Current SSDs top out at around 128 GB, and they cost almost 10 times more per gigabyte than the hard drives that are in most people's PCs today
When demand is there and it is with SSDs - cost will come down. Expect SSDs to complete seriously for your attention in 2009, especially if you're looking for notebook
computer storage-, where capacity needs are often tower than for desktop PCs. A 64 GB SSD would provide all the storage that most notebook users need.
Sure, a traditional hard drive of the same capacity is a lot cheaper, but when it comes lo speed and having the peace of mind that your hard drive won't decide to die in the blink of an eye, a bit of extra cost is worthwhile many.
Today's major hard drive makers -Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Sam sung aren't going lo like the shift to SSI )s because the companies well positioned to move in this market are chip makers, mil disk makers. But the Seagates of the world are starting to play now. as well, which should add yet more downward pressure to SSD prices.

Canon EOS 1000D boasts sharp

THE Canon EOS 1000D boasts sharp 10.1 megapixel images, life-like coiour, a wealth of camera functions while being highly compatible with the full range of Canon lenses & Speedlites.
Canon's new addition is a force in driving down the barriers towards the adoption of high performance cameras and systems, by reducing costs, boosting capabilities, while improving ease of use.
The EOS 1000D is the best-value platform for young enthusiasts who are passionate in exploring the art and craft of professional pho-tography. With a flatbed colour scanner, the paper with the image is placed face down on a glass screen, as with a photocopier. Beneath the glass are the lighting and measurement devices. Once the scanner is activated, it reads the image as a series of dots and then generates the digitized image that is sent to the computer and stored as a file.
The scanner operates by using three rotating lamps, each of which has a different coloured filter: red, green and blue. The resulting three separate images are combined into one by appropriate software.

What is a computer?

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4Ft1FeBbMpY/SVr5hujtEkI/AAAAAAAAACw/zA8ZrpIPK44/s200/low-energy-desktop-computer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5285811470501483074" />
A computer is an electronic machine which can agree to data in a confident form, process the data, and provide the results of the processing in a particular format as information.
First, data is fed into the computer's memory. Then, when the program is run, the computer performs a set of instructions and processes the data. Finally, we can see the results (the output) on the screen or in printed form
A computer system consists of two parts: hardware and software. Hardware is any electronic or mechanical part you can see or touch. Software is a set of instructions, called a program, which tells the computer what to do. There are three basic hardware sections: the central processing unit (CPU), main memory and peripherals.
Perhaps the most influential component is the central processing unit. Its function is to execute program instructions and coordinate the activities of all the other units. In a way, it is the 'brain' of the computer. The main memory (a collection of RAM chips) holds the instructions and data which are being processed by the CPU. Peripherals are the physical units attached to the computer. They include storage devices and input/ output devices.

Storage devices (hard drives, DVD drives or flash drives) provide a permanent storage of both data and programs. Disk drives are used to read and write data on disks. Input devices enable data to go into the computer's memory. The most common input devices are the mouse and the keyboard. Output devices enable us to extract the finished product from the system. For example, the computer shows the output on the monitor or prints the results onto paper by means of a printer.
On the rear panel of the computer there are several ports into which we can plug a wide range of peripherals - a modem, a digital camera, a scanner, etc. They allow communication between the computer and the devices. Modern desktop PCs have USB ports and memory card readers on the front panel.
